FESTIVAL CONCERT |
The Mull of Kintyre Music Festival has presented, over
the years, talented and world renowned musicians such as
Capercaillie in 1993 to Davy Spillane, the creator of the
original Riverdance Sound in 1996, and this year is no exception.
Arthur Johnston, a great friend to the festival, will introduce
some of the finest exponents of both traditional and contemporary
music…..
Capercaillie
Making a welcome return visit to the festival
to headline the main concert this year is Capercaillie who
took part in the very first festival in Campbeltown 10 years
ago. The seductive mix of Karen Matheson's voice and the
fine musicianship of band members like Donald Shaw and Michael
McGoldrick places them several steps beyond the traditional
norm.
Four Men & a Dog
Making a welcome return to the town Four Men & a Dog are
sure to consolidate their reputation as one of the best
live bands on the circuit today. Be witness to the intensity
of their traditional jigs and reels, backed up by their
own increasingly confident song writing.
The Full Moon Ensemble
Based in Alabama, USA, The Ensemble is another example
of celtic music flourishing. The connection between Irish
& Scottish music and the traditional old-time bluegrass
music of the South are central to the band and with Allison
King's vocals you are certainly in for a treat.
Ross Kennedy & Alistair McCulloch
Campbeltown based Ross Kennedy, who can boast a glittering
career with Iron Horse, Tannahill Weavers and Canterach
will team up with fiddler Alistair McCulloch to kick off
this unique concert.
Pipework
The extraordinary talent from the local contingent featuring
Iain McKerral, John Brown and Dave Bisset. A talent steeped
in piping and traditional singing this trio are set to lift
the roof with their popular mix of pipe tunes.

Licensing Laws |
A local by-law prohibiting the consumption of alcohol outwith
a "designated area" came into effect on 1st. August 1999. Permission
for a "designated area" for the consumption of alcohol has been
granted to the Mull of Kintyre Music & Arts Association to include
a cordoned off area on Kinloch Green on Saturday & Sunday 1pm-5pm
only and in Burnside Square Car Park on Saturday evening 6pm-8pm
only. The consumption of alcohol outwith these areas and allocated
times will be deemed an offence. We will be grateful if members
